Going smooth.

Things are slow but moving forward (playing on the PS3), i analyzed the first map nav mesh and yes it works...what did you think would happened? There's no ladders in this campaign.
Continued creating new textures of course and cleaning up things.

Everything is old here.

New ceiling texture.

New door, floor and wall texture.

Closer look at the wall and the new box texture (non breakable one).

Its like night and day and reminds me of the game a hell a lot more now.

In-game shots, lighting might change.

Let me know what your thoughts are.

Once again, not a single light entity has been used, except one or two light_spots.
This is how its done.

Time for a Troll Post and non Hammer Related.

I can browse the web, play a random F2P MMO, Steam is updating and bla bla blah....but....

I wonder....

I did something on the Alien Trilogy campaign.

I was curious about the nav mesh i made for L4D1. "Map Unplayable"....no you didn't.....but everything spawned as they, the infected would normally do. Finished the maps and i didn't think about it anymore, going to analyze them later.

I had the idea that making replacement textures for the maps would be fast and simple and done in no time....not really.
As i mentioned at the earlier post, i am going for my own design / art style for textures, but also trying to keep the old one intact. Keeping the detail that you might recognize but it looks different.

This is the old elevator door made by brushes...yes by brushes and not a texture.

This is the new door texture, looks like the original, somethings feels off though.

What a difference! Looks almost like the original, but different, which was my goal.
Looks way better once the lighting comes in to play.

Quick Before                             And After

If you aren't familiar how the game looks, there you go.

Pylons got a face lift, a new floor texture. Plenty to do still.

I realized that i screwed up big time when it came to the ceiling before, so that had to be rebuilt.
Getting there. See the difference in the upper picture?

Its like night and day if you have the old and the new and comparing them side by side.

There is one thing i can do though while waiting!

Since there is a issue with the LADDER nav mesh, there is a campaign i stopped working on like a year ago. I used to work on it when i took a break from the SH campaign for L4D1.

I was checking out the music i made (remixes and my original work) back in the day on Fruity Loops and it came to me.
The campaign i am talking about is Alien Trilogy.
That campaign requires no ladders (you can't even jump in that game) and i can work on it for L4D2. It isn't Silent Hill, but there have been some that has asked me about it from time to time and i liked the old school shooter at the time and i still do.

I made music that was inspired by its own original soundtrack that i can use, as well as the original. This will be easy since i own the Playstation Disc for this one, meaning textures, soundtrack (ripped them already) and the layout of the maps themselves will be easy to replicate.
I am gonna try to add my own thing and kinda mix it with both the old and with the new in terms of texture,  and art design?

I have some Alien models (AVP 2 to Source) like the Queen, Drones / Warriors and the Face Hugger (got animations) and so on.

Time to give these four maps that has already been done a small face lift, since i do have more of a experience of making better looking texture now then back then.

I believe this is better then letting this blog die out....and i can keep myself busy when bored and you have something to read :)

I found a brick wall.....i can't destroy it.

I reinstalled Steam and Left 4 Dead 2 now. The first thing i did was compile the latest version of my map and analyzed the nav mesh. Same fucking damn problem.
Even the nav trouble report said that EVERY single ladder got disconnected, before the reinstall of everything and after.

The nav tool is Broken, period.

Ladders don't work.

It doesn't matter how many times i rebuild the ladder mesh or modify the surrounding nav meshes.

Nobody has a answer for this?

This is it folks.....if the shit doesn't work after a clean Steam and Game Reinstall (everything was updated from Steam's network) with NO CUSTOM content, then I'm not interested anymore.

Bye.
